Tag Colors
Color-code your tags with a built-in palette — and reach tag, folder, and group actions from one organized right-click menu.

Tags can be assigned one of 11 preset colors (8 pastels + 3 neutrals) or a custom hex color. The right-click menu on clips groups all tag, folder, and group actions into submenus so the menu stays clean.
How to use it
Color a tag when creating it
- Right-click a clip → Tags → + New tag…
- Enter the tag name.
- Click a color swatch in the palette (or None for no color, or Custom… for any hex value).
- Click Add.
Change the color of an existing tag
- Right-click a clip → Tags.
- Click the colored circle next to any tag name.
- Pick a new color from the palette — saved immediately.
You can also do this from the Tags button in the preview toolbar.
Context menu structure
The right-click menu is organized into submenus:
| Section | What’s inside |
|---|---|
| Tags | Tag list with color dots · New tag |
| Move to Folder | Folder list |
| Add to Group | Group list · New group |
| Operations | Split · Glue · Export · Use as Trigger |
| Properties | Clip details |
The same tag, folder, and group actions are also in Edit (menu bar) and in the preview toolbar dropdowns.
Tips & gotchas
- Tags without a color show an empty circle outline in the menu and a plain text badge in the table.
- Tags with a color show a filled circle and a colored badge.
- The 11-color palette is a picker aid — the database stores the raw hex value, so any color works.
- Long tag names are truncated with “…” in the submenu and tree panel.
