Quick Start

Welcome to Blue Synergy. This guide gets you up and running with the three most important features in under five minutes.

Show or hide the app

Press Ctrl+Alt+H to toggle the main window from anywhere. If the window is not visible, it may be minimized to the system tray — Ctrl+Alt+H brings it back instantly.

Can’t find it? Look for the Blue Synergy icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your taskbar).

Open the Quick Overlay and paste a clip

The Quick Overlay is your central search and paste window. You can open it from any app without leaving your current window.

  1. Press Ctrl + Space — the search field appears in the center of your screen.
  2. Use to navigate through your recently copied items. Or press Alt+1 through Alt+9 to select the first nine entries directly.
  3. Press Ctrl + Enter — the clip is instantly pasted into your last active window.

Pressing Enter alone copies the clip to your clipboard but does not paste it.

Search your clipboard history

Blue Synergy automatically saves every text, image, and link you copy.

Via the Quick Overlay: Press Ctrl + Space and start typing — results update live.

Tip: Type c: before your search term (e.g. c:invoice) to search only clips and hide macros and screenshots.

Via the main window: Switch to the Clips tab and press Ctrl + F.

Create your first text trigger

Triggers let you type a short keyword — Blue Synergy expands it automatically into the full text.

The fastest way to create a trigger is directly from a clip you already have:

  1. Copy the text you want to expand — it appears in the Clips workspace automatically.
  2. Right-click the clip and choose Use as Trigger.
  3. Give it a short keyword and press Enter — done.

Try it: Switch to any app, type your keyword, and press Space — the text expands immediately.

Keyword tip: Use a prefix character to avoid accidental triggers while typing normally. Common conventions:

  • ; — e.g. ;sig, ;addr, ;ty
  • ., — e.g. .,meet, .,pr
  • .- — e.g. .-todo, .-fn

Pick one prefix and use it consistently — it makes your triggers easy to remember and impossible to fire by accident.
