Freehand Capture

Capture any shape you draw โ€” not just a rectangle. Everything outside your outline is saved transparent.

Freehand lets you trace exactly the part of the screen you want. Draw a freeform Lasso outline, or drop Polygon corner points for straight edges. The area outside your shape becomes transparent, so the result drops cleanly onto any background.

Pro feature. Freehand capture is part of Blue Synergy Pro. On the Free plan the Freehand button shows a ๐Ÿ‘‘ and opens the upgrade dialog.

How to use it

  1. Open the Advanced capture group in the ribbon and choose Freehand.
  2. Pick a shape tool in the overlay:
    • Lasso โ€” hold and drag a freeform outline; release to capture.
    • Polygon โ€” click to place each corner; close by clicking your first point again or pressing Enter.
  3. The screenshot is taken the moment the shape closes. Everything outside it is transparent.

Tips & gotchas

  • Backspace removes the last polygon point if you misclick.
  • Esc cancels without capturing.
  • The transparency is kept everywhere โ€” the thumbnail, the preview, and when you paste into another app that understands transparency (the shape lands without a white or black box around it).
  • For a straight-edged cut-out (e.g. a UI panel), Polygon is more precise than Lasso.
