Installation & Updates
How Blue Synergy installs, updates, and cleans up.

Blue Synergy ships as a standard Windows installer (.exe). Updates install silently with no dialogs. Your clips, triggers, captures, and settings are never touched during an update.
Installing
- Download the installer from blue-synergy.com/download.
- Run it — installation is silent with no prompts.
- Blue Synergy installs to
%LocalAppData%\blue-synergy\by default. - Your data folder is at
%AppData%\blue-synergy\— separate from the app files.
Windows SmartScreen: On first run you may see an “Unknown publisher” warning. Click More info → Run anyway. This is expected for early releases (no code-signing certificate yet).
Updating
Updates install automatically once you click Download & Install in the Updates dialog. The process is silent — no reset prompts, no data changes, no manual steps. Blue Synergy relaunches automatically once the new version is installed.
To check manually: Help → Check for Updates.
Uninstalling
Use Windows Settings → Apps or the dedicated uninstaller. During uninstall, a checkbox lets you remove all user data (config, database, captures, backups, downloaded OCR language packs). Leave it unchecked to keep your data for a future reinstall.
Tips & gotchas
- Installing a new version over an existing one never touches your data — clips, triggers, and settings are preserved.
- Downloaded OCR language packs (German, French, etc.) are stored separately — the uninstaller offers a dedicated checkbox to remove them.
