Trash
Deleted clips and captures go to the Trash first — restore them before they’re gone for good.

Each workspace has its own Trash node in the sidebar. Items stay there for 30 days by default, then are automatically removed. You can restore any item at any time before that.
How to use it
Finding the Trash
- In the Clips sidebar: scroll to Trash (n) at the bottom of the tree.
- In the Captures sidebar: same location.
- Global view: Use File → Open Trash… to see clips and captures trash side by side in one window.
Restoring items
- Click the Trash node to view trashed items.
- Select the item(s) you want to recover.
- Press Delete (in trash view, this action is Restore) or right-click → Restore.
- The item returns to your active list.
Permanently deleting
- Right-click → Delete Permanently to remove a single item forever.
- Use Edit → Empty Trash or the Empty Trash button in the global Trash window to clear all trashed items in one go.
Tips & gotchas
- The Delete key adapts to context: in a normal view it moves items to Trash; in the Trash view it restores them.
- Screenshot files stay on disk until an item is permanently deleted from the Trash.
- If Trash is disabled (Settings → Maintenance → Trash → Enabled = Off), deletions are permanent immediately.
- The retention period is configurable — set to 0 days to keep trashed items until you manually empty the Trash.
Configuration
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Enabled | On | When off, deleting is permanent |
| Retention | 30 days | Auto-purge after this many days (0 = never) |
| Auto-purge on startup | On | Purge expired items each time the app starts |
Find these under Settings → Maintenance → Trash.
