Keyboard Shortcuts

Change any global hotkey and get live feedback if there’s a conflict.

Shortcut changes take effect immediately — no restart needed. A status indicator shows green (free), yellow (used by another app), or red (used by Blue Synergy itself) as you type.

How to use it

  1. Open Settings and navigate to the module with the shortcut you want to change (General, Captures, etc.).
  2. Click the shortcut field and press your new key combination.
  3. The status indicator shows:
    • Green — available, will work
    • Yellow — another app uses this combination (you can still save, but it may not work)
    • Red — conflicts with another Blue Synergy hotkey (cannot save)
  4. Save — the new shortcut activates immediately.

Check all shortcuts: Use File → Check Shortcuts… to see all registered shortcuts and their current status in one place. This dialog also opens automatically at startup if any hotkey failed to register.

Startup conflict dialog: If two shortcuts conflict when the app starts, a dialog appears automatically — it explains which key is in conflict and offers a one-click fix to reassign it. Click Snooze to suppress the dialog for 7 days.

Clear a shortcut: Delete the value in the shortcut field and save — the feature then has no global hotkey and is accessible via the app UI only.

Tips & gotchas

  • During editing, Blue Synergy temporarily suspends all its own hotkeys so your new combination isn’t intercepted by the app itself.
  • Yellow conflicts don’t block saving, but the shortcut may fail silently if the other app has priority.
  • Empty shortcuts are allowed — the feature remains fully accessible from within the app.
  • Startup conflict warnings can be snoozed for 7 days — useful when you’re not ready to fix a conflict right away.
