Preview Layout

Resize, rearrange, and collapse the preview pane to fit your screen.

Four layout modes control how the sidebar, clip list, and preview panel are arranged. Drag the splitter to resize. Collapse the preview when you don’t need it.

How to use it

Switch layouts

Click the layout buttons in the toolbar:

Layout Arrangement
Layout A Sidebar left · Clip list center · Preview right (default)
Layout B Sidebar left · Preview center · Clip list right
Layout C Clip list top · Preview bottom (horizontal split)
Timeline Chronological timeline view — Power tier only

Resize the preview

  • Drag the splitter between the clip list and preview to resize.
  • Drag below 40px to fully collapse the preview.
  • Click the arrow on the splitter to toggle the preview open/closed.

Full-pane preview (F11)

Press F11 to expand the preview pane to fill the entire Clips workspace — the clip list, sidebar, and toolbar all hide. Press F11 again or Esc to restore the split view.

Use this when you need to read or edit a long clip without distractions.

Preview toolbar

Buttons above the editor: Copy, Pin, Delete for the current clip, plus a collapse button to fold the editor section.

Preview status bar

Below the editor: clip type, source app, creation date, size, paste count, and tag pills.

Workspace status bar

At the very bottom of the Clips workspace, two live indicators let you act without opening Settings:

  • Monitoring — click to pause or resume clipboard monitoring. The label changes to ⏸ Paused while paused.
  • 🔒 / 🔓 Vault — click to lock the vault (when unlocked) or open the unlock dialog (when locked). Only visible when Secure Clips is enabled.

Type badges

Each clip row shows a type badge (TXT, CODE, URL, IMG, CAP, TRG). Enable View → Show Colorized Badges to give each type its own color palette so you can scan types at a glance. The setting is saved across sessions.

Edited clips show an orange badge regardless of the colorized-badge setting — see Edit Versioning.

Tips & gotchas

  • Splitter position is saved between sessions.
  • Layout choice is also saved between sessions.
  • Image clips show an image viewer instead of the text editor in the preview pane.
  • F11 full-pane mode is separate from Layout A/B/C — it temporarily hides everything; your layout is restored when you exit it.
